Aladdin on Broadway welcomed Telly Leung (In Transit) to the cast on June 13 as he assumed the title role following Jacob Dickey's departure. A new set of photos have been released showcasing Leung as well as Major Attaway, who recently stepped into the role of Genie earlier this year.
Leung joins a cast led by Courtney Reed as Jasmine, Attaway as Genie, and Jonathan Freeman as Jafar. The show also features Steel Burkhardt, Brian Gonzales, and Brad Weinstock as Aladdin's sidekicks Kassim, Babkak, and Omar, Clifton Davis as Sultan and Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Juwan Crawley, James Moye, and Deonté L. Warren stand by for several principals.
The ensemble includes Kathryn Allison, Tia Altinay, Netanel Bellaishe, Mike Cannon, Andrew Cao, Damian Chambers, Alicia Charles, Lauryn Ciardullo, Joshua Dela Cruz, Josh Drake, Tiffany Evariste, Daisy Hobbs, Adam Hyndman, Donald Jones, Jr., Nathan Lucrezio, Stanley Martin, Michael Mindlin, Amber Owens, Bobby Pestka, Ariel Reid, Trent Saunders, Angelo Soriano, Dennis Stowe, and Kathryn Terza.
Based on the 1992 Disney animated film, Aladdin opened on Broadway on March 20, 2014. With a score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, with songs such as "Friend Like Me" and the Academy Award-winning "A Whole New World," the show features a new book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin.
The creative team includes Bob Crowley (scenic design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Ken Travis (sound design), and Jim Steinmeyer (illusions).
