The benefit concert will also feature Broadway favorites including Erin Davie, Andy Kelso, and Alysha Umphress.
Casting has been announced for a benefit concert titled Living for Today: "My First Time," set to take place on October 30 at Joe's Pub. Produced and directed by David Alpert, with music direction by Jason Wetzel, the event will support Gilana's Fund, which provides funding for educational programming promoting acceptance and understanding of our communities, one another, and ourselves.
This year’s lineup for the annual concert includes Erin Davie (Side Show), Janine DiVita (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Carmen Ruby Floyd (After Midnight), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde), Amber Iman (Shuffle Along), Andy Kelso (Kinky Boots), Liz McCartney (South Pacific), Alice Ripley (Next to Normal), James Snyder (If/Then), Alysha Umphress (On the Town), The Doo Wop Project, and more to be announced. Ben Cameron (Wicked) hosts the event.
The show's band will include Jason Wetzel, Gregg Monteith, and Danny Weller.
The annual concert series serves as a platform to announce the annual recipients of Gilana's Fund. The Fund, created by David Alpert in 2008 just a year after the loss of his sister Gilana Alpert at the age of 26, has helped raise nearly $50,000.
