Additional shows have been added to the seventh annual FringeNYC Encore Series, which will play in rotating repertory at SoHo Playhouse, The Huron Club, and The Players Theater, September 7-30.
Newly announced selections will include Matt Smith’s solo All My Children, about a man tracking down the now-grown children of long-ago girlfriends, telling them he’s their real father; Below, about group of survivors dwelling beneath an abandoned toxic metropolis; Canon in D Minor, a poetic story of friendship and forgiveness; Danny Visconti Is Hill-Bent: My Night with Hillary Clinton, detailing the results of a a chance meeting with the Secretary of State; Gay Camp, featuring “confused” campers sent to be cured at Camp Acceptance; and Have I Got a Girl For You, about a gay musical theatre actor running a female escort agency.
Additional FringeNYC Encores shows are Lennon in Denmark, in which a young woman’s encounter with the rock legend changes her life; Mahmoud, Iranian actress Tara Grammy’s three-character solo; Nightfall on Miranga Island, in which a swashbuckling hero tracks down a legendary pirate; Pulp Shakespeare, set imagining what the cult film Pulp Fiction would look like if written by the Bard; Rated M for Mature, a dark comedy following a bullied teen; Standby – The Musical, featuring five travelers awaiting the flight of their lives; Super Sidekick: The Musical, in which a lowly sidekick is called on to save the day; This Too Shall Suck, a merry romp through performance anxiety, professional Scrabble, stand-up comedy and the psych ward; and The Zebra Shirt of Lonely Children, Matthew Trumbull’s monologue centering around the death of his father, who donates his cadaver to science.
These shows join the previously announced selections 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Independents, Pieces, and Salamander Starts Over.
