Ugly Lies the Bone begins performances tonight at Alliance Theatre.
In this new drama from playwright Lindsey Ferrentino, Jess is a young soldier who returns to her hometown with more than the emotional scars of war. Pursuing healing, Jess turns to a new virtual reality therapy to escape her physical and emotional pain and put the pieces of her life back together. Ugly Lies the Bone shines a light on
the visible and invisible wounds of returning injured veterans.
The cast is led by Julie Jesneck (Jess), who is joined by Hugh Adams (Kelvin), Megan McFarland (Voice/Mom), Wendy Melkonian (Kacie), and Lee Osorio (Stevie). Jessica Holt directs.
Supporting the cast is the creative team of Alexander Woodward (set design), Liz Lee (lighting design), Kate Marvin (sound design and original music), Sydney Roberts (costume design), and Shawn Boyle (projection design). Kate Marvin stage-manages.
Performances run through October 9.
