The world premiere will replace Neil LaBute’s ”Fat Pig”.
The Geffen Playhouse has announced the addition of Amanda Peet's Our Very Own Carlin McCullough to its 2017-18 season. Tyne Rafaeli will direct.
The production will replace the previously announced final show of the season, Neil LaBute's Fat Pig, starring Chrissy Metz.
In Our Very Own Carlin McCullough, a single mother discovers that her 10-year-old daughter is a tennis phenom. When a young, dedicated coach takes Carlin under his wing, her meteoric rise takes shape, and this threesome struggles over what is best when building up a champion. Casting is to be announced. Performances will begin this summer.
Our Very Own Carlin McCullough was commissioned as part of the Geffen Playhouse’s New Play Development Program. Peet's first play, The Commons of Pensacola, ran off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2013 and starred Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Another LaBute play, Reasons to Be Pretty Happy, was also recently dropped from MCC's lineup, also terminating the playwright's tenure as its playwright in residence.
