The ”School of Rock” composer will have an on-air stroll down “memory” lane.
Seven-time Tony Award winner Andrew Lloyd Webber will sit in for Elaine Paige on her weekly BBC 2 Radio program, Elaine Paige on Sunday, this Sunday, January 10. Lloyd Webber will share songs and secrets from his career and collaborations, the musicals he grew up with, and the shows that have inspired him, from both the West End and Broadway.
The program will air on BBC 2 beginning at 8am EST/1pm GMT. U.S. listeners can hear a live stream of the show here.
Lloyd Webber first collaborated with Paige in 1978 when she originated the role of Eva Perón in the world premiere of Evita, a role that earned her a Laurence Olivier Award for "Performance of the Year in a Musical." She went on to originate the role of Grizabella in Cats and had a Top 10 radio hit with her rendition of "Memory." She came to Broadway in 1996 to play the role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.
The composer recently returned to Broadway with his newest musical School of Rock, now in performances at the Winter Garden Theatre. The show features original music, along with music from the hit 2003 film.
