The off-Broadway company has announced its 2019-20 season.
Signature Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2019-20 season.
Kicking off the season, and beginning her Residency 1 cycle, is Anna Deavere Smith and Fires in the Mirror, running October 22-November 24. Saheem Ali directs the work, which is Smith's response to the Crown Heights riots in 1991. From November 5-December 8, Michael Wilson will direct a new production of Horton Foote's Pulitzer Prize-winning The Young Man From Atlanta, part of Signature's Legacy program.
The New York premiere of Lauren Yee's Cambodian Rock Band will take place February 4-March 8, under the direction of Chay Yew. It will kick off Yee's five-play residency. At the same time, Katori Hall will premiere her new play, The Hot Wing King, as part of the Residency 5 program, February 11-March 15. Steve H. Broadnaux III directs.
Smith's Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992, exploring the Rodney King riots, will run April 28-May 31, under the direction of Taibi Magar. This is followed by the world premiere of Dominique Morisseau's Confederates, running May 12-June 14 as part of the Residency 5 program. Kamilah Forbes directs.
