ACT is to present a new collaborative adaption of Ramayana, October 18-November 11 at The Falls Theatre. Kurt Beattie and Sheila Daniels will co-direct this new interpretation by Yussef El Guindi and Stephanie Timm.
This production combines costumes, battle scenes, puppetry, choreography, and re-imagined environments to tell the story of Rama, a young prince on a quest to rescue his beautiful wife from an evil king.
The cast will feature Anne Allgood (Kausalya/Soorpanaka/Trijata), Cheyenne Casebier (Kaikeyi/Mithila/Indrajit), Khanh Doan (Sita/Manthara), John Farrage (Viswamithra/Ravana), Jim Gall (Das/Mareecha/Vali), Tim Gouran (Lakshmana), Todd Jefferson Moore (Janaka/Court Attendant/Sugreeva), Brandon O’Neill (Vasishta/Hanuman), Tikka Sears (Ensemble), Richard Nguyen Sloniker (Vibishna/Indra), Ray Tagavilla (Bharata), Rafael Untalan (Rama), Akhi Vadari (Ensemble), and Belle Wolf (Ensemble).
The design team will include Brendan Patrick Hogan (sound design and original composition), Matthew Smucker (set design), Melanie Taylor Burgess (costume design), and Maureen Whiting (choreography).
