Anne Hathaway is developing a screen version of George Brant's acclaimed drama Grounded, according to Variety.

Hathaway will star in and produce the film, for which playwright Brant is adapting the screenplay. She secured the rights to the material when she led the 2015 Public Theater production of the solo show, which was directed by Julie Taymor. Hathaway won a 2016 Lucille Lortel Award for her performance, and is nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award.

Grounded tells the story of an ace fighter pilot whose unexpected pregnancy forces her to leave her airborne career in favor of one operating military drones from a windowless trailer outside the Las Vegas desert. It had its New York premiere in 2013 at Walkerspace via Page 73 Productions. That staging starred Hannah Cabell and was directed by Ken Rus Schmoll.

Hathaway is producing with Suzan Bymel and Ben Forkner of Entertainment 360, and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, which is also financing the project.
