Ari Brand, Melissa Miller, and Mark Nelson will star in Long Wharf Theatre‘s production of My Name is Asher Lev, to run May 2-27 on the company’s Mainstage. Gordon Edelstein will direct the production.
The play centers on a young man with a true artistic calling, who is torn between his deeply observant Hasidic Jewish community and the passionate need to paint. When he runs afoul of his family and tradition by attempting to embrace his gift, he is forced to make the difficult choice between faith and art.
The creative team will include Eugene Lee (scenic design), Ilona Somogyi (costume design), Chris Akerlind (lighting desgin), and John Gromada (sound design).
