The Academy Award-winning star of West Side Story returns to host a second year.
Academy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Ariana DeBose will return to host the 76th Annual Tony Awards, as she did last year. This year, however, the Awards will be held uptown at the historic United Palace in Washington Heights. They are set to air live on Sunday, June 11, at 8pm ET on CBS and Paramount+.
“I was honored to serve as host last year and even more so to be asked back! So looking forward to celebrating this incredible season and the people who make the work happen. Here’s to adding some uptown flavor to the magic of the Tony Awards!” said DeBose, who was last on Broadway in Summer, earning a Tony nomination for her performance as “Disco Donna.” Since then, DeBose has appeared as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, for which she won an Academy Award.
The Tony Awards eligibility cut-off date for the 2022-23 season is Thursday, April 27 for all Broadway productions that meet all eligibility requirements. The BAM production of The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window recently announced that it would transfer to Broadway and open on that date. Nominations for the 2023 Tony Awards will be announced on Tuesday, May 2.
