Six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will headline McCarter Theatre Center's annual gala benefit, set for Saturday, April 28.
McDonald, a star of Broadway, TV, movies, opera, and the concert stage has earned Tony Awards for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, and Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill.
McCarter's gala, supporting McCarter's many ongoing artistic and educational missions in and around the region, will be cochaired by Courtney Lederer and Mark Thierfelder of Princeton, New Jersey; Liza and Sky Morehouse of Hopewell, New Jersey; and Sonia and Bill Sappington of Skillman, New Jersey.
McCarter recently announced its 2018-19 season lineup, which will include The Age of Innocence, Detroit '67, A Christmas Carol, The Niceties, The Gods of Comedy, and Skylight. Christopher Durang's new play Turning Off the Morning News will begin preview performances May 4.
