Babette's Feast to Make New York Premiere at Theatre at St. Clement's

Babette's Feast, a stage adaptation of Isak Dinesen's short story, will make its New York premiere in an open-ended run at the Theatre at St. Clement's starting Wednesday, March 14, with opening night set for Sunday, March 25. The show premiered in January at Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine.

Conceived and developed by Abigail Killeen, and written by Rose Courtney, the play, according to a press release, is "the story of Babette, a French refugee, who finds asylum in a pious Norwegian village. With boundless generosity, she throws a lavish feast that becomes an agent of transformative grace."

Directed by Karin Coonrod, the cast features Michelle Hurst (Orange Is the New Black) as Babette, with Juliana Francis Kelly, Abigail Killeen, Jo Mei, Elliot Nye, Steven Skybell, Sorab Wadia, Sturgis Warner, and Jeorge Bennett Watson. The creative team includes Tony Award winner Christopher Akerlind (scenic and lighting design), Oana Botez (costume design), Kate Marvin (sound design), and Gina Leishman (original music).
