The revival of John Van Druten’s play will feature 10 actresses in their 60s and 70s taking on 23 roles.
Off-Broadway's Transport Group has announced casting for its upcoming production of John Van Druten's I Remember Mama. Helmed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, the revival will run from March 16-April 20 at The Gym at Judson.
Cummings' production will feature 10 actresses in their 60s and 70s taking on the 23 male and female roles in Van Druten's play. The cast includes Barbara Andres (On Golden Pond), Barbara Barrie (Company), Alice Cannon (The Dead), Lynn Cohen (Sex and the City), Rita Gardner (The Wedding Singer), Heather MacRae (A Catered Affair), Marni Nixon (Nine), Letty Serra (All the Way Home), Dale Soules (Hands on a Hardbody), and Phyllis Somerville (The Big C).
Inspired by Kathryn Forbes' novel Mama's Bank Account, I Remember Mama tells the story of a family of Norwegian immigrants living in San Francisco at the turn of the last century. The Transport Group's revival is the second entry into its 20th Century Project, exploring the American experience and identity through different decades.
