The classic Kander and Ebb musical comes to Arlington, Virginia.
Stage favorite Barrett Wilbert Weed (Found) will join the previously announced Wesley Taylor (Smash) in Signature Theatre's upcoming production of Cabaret, running at the Arlington, Virginia venue from May 12-June 28. Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner helms the musical, which features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb and a book by Joe Masteroff.
Taylor, last seen on Broadway in The Addams Family, takes on the role of the Emcee. Weed, also seen off-Broadway in Heathers: The Musical and Bare, plays Sally Bowles. They are joined by Gregory Wooddell (Cliff), Naomi Johnson (Fraulein Schneider), Rick Foucheau (Herr Schultz), Bobby Smith (Ernst), and Maria Rizzo (Fraulein Kost). The ensemble is rounded out by Shayna Blass, Kurt Boehm, Mark Chandler, Jordan DeBona, Jamie Eacker, Colleen Hayes, Rachel Schur, Jessica Thorne, and Joseph Tudor.
The creative team includes associate choreographer Kelly D’Amboise, musical director Jon Kalbfleisch, scenic designer Misha Kachman, costume designer Frank Labovitz, lighting designer Jason Lyons, and sound designer Lane Elms.
Set in World War II-era Berlin, Cabaret follows the relationships of British nightclub singer Sally Bowles and bisexual American writer Clifford Bradshaw, as well as boarding house owner Fraulein Schneider and fruit seller Herr Schultz as the Nazis rise to prominence.
