The show features a score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie.
The musical Grey Gardens will return to Long Island for a run from July 28-August 30, 2015, at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.
With a score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, and a book by Doug Wright, Grey Gardens tells the story of Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, also named Edith, the cousins of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Set at the Bouvier mansion in East Hampton, the musical explores how the Beale mother-and-daughter duo became the eccentric "Big Edie" and "Little Edie" as seen in the classic 1975 documentary Grey Gardens by Albert and David Maysles.
Grey Gardens premiered on Broadway in 2006 after a run off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons. Directed by Michael Grief, the original company was led by Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson, both of whom received Tony Awards for their performances as the Edies. The Broadway cast also featured John McMartin, Erin Davie, Matt Cavanaugh, Bob Stillman, Sarah Hyland, Michael Potts, and Kelsey Fowler. It ran 307 performances.
Casting and creative team for the Bay Street production will be announced in the coming months.
