The off-Broadway premiere of Be More Chill opened Thursday, August 9, at Pershing Square Signature Center. Featuring music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, and a book by Joe Tracz, Be More Chill runs through September 23.

Directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Chase Brock, Be More Chill features Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening) as Rich, Katlyn Carlson (Dirty Dancing) as Chloe, Stephanie Hsu (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Christine, Tiffany Mann (Waitress) as Jenna, Lauren Marcus (The Humans at St. Louis Rep) as Brooke, George Salazar (Tick, Tick…BOOM!) as Michael, Will Roland (Dear Evan Hansen) as Jeremy, Britton Smith (Shuffle Along) as Jake, Jason Tam (If/Then) as the Squip, and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Freaky Friday) as Jeremy's Dad and Mr. Reyes. Cameron Bond, Troy Iwata, and Talia Suskauer are the company swings.

The show is described as follows: "Jeremy Heere is your average, nothing-special teenager at Middleborough High in nothing-special New Jersey…until the day he finds out about 'The Squip.' Thus begins a journey that pits Jeremy's desire to be popular against his struggle to remain true to his authentic self."
