The ”Carole King Musical” took home the Outstanding Musical Theater Album honor.
Beautiful — The Carole King Musical celebrated its Outstanding Musical Theater Album Grammy win following a recent performance of the show at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. While their own statue hasn't been delivered yet, songwriter Carole King let them spend the evening with one of her own trophies for their victory lap.
A biomusical that follows the life and career of singer-songwriter King and her colleagues Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, Beautiful features songs including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," among others. Tony-winning leading lady Jessie Mueller also received a Grammy for her vocal performance on the album.
Directed by Marc Bruni, the production also stars Scott J. Campbell as Gerry Goffin, Drama Desk winner Anika Larsen as Cynthia Weil, and Tony nominee Jarrod Spector as Barry Mann.
