Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Langley Park Productions have announced the pre-Broadway world premiere of the new musical comedy Beetlejuice will take place at the National Theatre in Washington, DC. The run will take place in October.

Directed by Alex Timbers, the musical features an original score by Eddie Perfect with a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Casting for the production will be announced.

Inspired by the Tim Burton film, which starred Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and the degenerate demon of the title. When Lydia calls on this ghost-with-the-most to scare away her insufferable parents, Beetlejuice comes up with the perfect plan, which involves exorcism, arranged marriages and an adorable girl scout who gets scared out of her wits. Plus singing and dancing, of course.

Beetlejuice features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Peter Hylenski, projection design by Peter Nigrini, puppet design
by Drama Desk Award winner Michael Curry, special effects design by Jeremy Chernick, illusions by Michael Weber, and musical direction by Kris Kukul.
