The New York Civil Liberties Union has announced today the full lineup of performers slated for its annual benefit concert, Broadway Stands Up For Freedom The event will take place July 18 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
Newly announced cast members include Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen), Benj Pasek (Dear Evan Hansen), Whitney Bashor (Himself and Nora), Alex Grubbs, and Grace McLean (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). They join Erich Bergen (An American Daughter), Jayne Houdyshell (The Humans), Jennifer Simard (Disaster!), Christina Bianco (Application Pending), Todd Buonopane (Cinderella), Devin Trey Campbell (Kinky Boots), Crystal Monee Hall (Rent), Celisse Henderson (Godspell), Kristolyn Lloyd (Dear Evan Hansen), Ray Mercer (The Lion King), Zachary Prince (Honeymoon in Vegas), Liana Stampur, Clinton Curtis, Alexandria Suarez (On Your Feet!), and the Brooklyn Tech Lady Dragons Step Team.
Susan Blackwell ([title of show]) will return as host with directors Peter Flynn and Daniel Goldstein and musical director Lynn Shankel. Tony Award nominee Liesl Tommy will be the keynote speaker, and Celia Keenan-Bolger and Andrew Keenan-Bolger will produce and present a video.
The evening will also feature one of the teenage winners of the NYCLU’s Freedom of Expression contest, which invites New York City public school students to speak their minds on important civil liberties issues in their lives.
