Forget filming "To be or not to be." Audiences at a recent performance of Lyndsey Turner's new London revival of Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, were rewarded for taking their phones out after (and only after) the show. The beloved Cumberbatch greeted his fans at the stage door with a heartfelt thank-you and a request that they stop recording his performance.

When audiences pull out their recording devices during a show, the actor said, "I can't give you what I want to give you, which is a live performance that you'll remember, hopefully, in your minds…rather than on your phones."

No one in show business could have said it more convincingly…well, except perhaps one diva.
