Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Viola Davis, and More Win Golden Globe Awards

Theater veterans took home awards for their work on television and film.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the winners of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards on January 8 in a televised ceremony hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

Veterans of Broadway took home prizes for their work on several TV and film projects. Dear Evan Hansen writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, alongside collaborator Justin Hurwitz, took home a Golden Globe for their song "City of Stars" from the musical film La La Land. Winners also included Viola Davis (Broadway's Fences, King Hedley II) for the film adaptation of Fences, Emma Stone (Cabaret) for La La Land, and Sarah Paulson (Talley's Folley, Collected Stories) for The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

The list of nominees also included a host of other theatrical personalities, including Hamilton scribe Miranda nominated for the song "How Far I'll Go" from Moana, Tony winner Denzel Washington for Fences; This Is Our Youth playwright-director Kenneth Lonergan for his film Manchester by the Sea, and Liev Schreiber (Les Liaisons Dangereuses) for the television series Ray Donovan.
