The New York City Center series has announced its upcoming lineup.
New York City Center Encores! has announced its 2017 season.
The lineup will kick off with Roger Miller and William Hauptman's Big River from February 8-12. Adapted from Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the musical features a Tony-winning bluegrass score to tell the story of friendship, freedom, and the untamed Mississippi River.
Next up is Cole Porter and Herbert Fields' The New Yorkers from March 22-26. With standards including "Love for Sale" and "I Happen to Like New York," the musical is set during the Prohibition era, where a featherbrained socialite Alice Miller is led on a madcap romp from Park Avenue to Sing Sing and back again by her bootlegger beau.
The season concludes with John Latouche and Jerome Moross’ The Golden Apple. Running from May 10-14, the 1954 musical reshapes the myths of The Iliad and The Odyssey into an all-American fable that conjures up the days when pie-baking contests were cutthroat and lovers eloped in hot air balloons.
Casting and additional information is still to be announced.
