Murray starred in the original 1993 film the musical is based on.
Bill Murray visited Broadway's Groundhog Day on August 8 at the August Wilson Theatre. Murray, the star of the 1993 film on which the musical is based took time after the performance to greet the company and take a few photos. This is one place we can honestly say we aren't too surprised to see Murray show up.
Groundhog Day features a score by Matilda composer Tim Minchin and direction by Matilda's Matthew Warchus, with original screenwriter Danny Rubin providing the book. The story follows disgruntled weatherman Phil Connors who finds himself stuck in small-town America reliving the same day over and over and over again.
Andy Karl and Barrett Doss star alongside an ensemble that includes Rebecca Faulkenberry, John Sanders, Andrew Call, Raymond J. Lee, Heather Ayers, Kevin Bernard, Gerard Canonico, Rheaume Crenshaw, Michael Fatica, Katy Geraghty, Camden Gonzales, Jordan Grubb, Taylor Iman Jones, Tari Kelly, Josh Lamon, Joseph Medeiros, Sean Montgomery, William Parry, Jenna Rubaii, Vishal Vaidya, Travis Waldschmidt, and Natalie Wisdom.
