The new musical comedy by ”Be More Chill” creator Joe Iconis opens off-Broadway this summer.
Casting has been announced for the New York premiere of Broadway Bounty Hunter, set for a 10-week run at the Greenwich House Theater beginning July 9.
Joining the previously announced Annie Golden will be Alan H. Green (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Lazarus; Tony nominee Brad Oscar (Something Rotten!) as Mac Roundtree; Emily Borromeo (School of Rock) as Shiro Jin; Badia Farha (School of Rock) as Sienna; Jasmine Forsberg as Cortnie/Indigo; Omar Garibay (Ghost the Musical) as Spark Plug/Director; Jared Joseph (Holler if Ya Hear Me) as Felipe; Christina Sajous (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Claudine Machine/Janessa; and Emilie Battle (Dear Evan Hansen at Second Stage) as swing. Anne L. Nathan (Once) will perform the title role at Saturday matinee performances.
With music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (Be More Chill) and a book by Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin, and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Be More Chill), Broadway Bounty Hunter received its world premiere at Barrington Stage in 2016. The off-Broadway premiere is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner.
Broadway Bounty Hunter is inspired by the exploitation movies of the 1970s. Annie Golden leads the cast as Annie, a down-on-her-luck actress of a certain age who is asked to become a bounty hunter and capture a South American drug lord. The musical is described as chronicling "a woman's journey to find her inner strength and true badass identity — and save the theater."
