Center Theater Group has announced its 2017-18 season at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Acclaimed choreographer Matthew Bourne will bring his production of The Red Shoes to the Ahmanson, September 15-October 1. His adaptation of the legendary Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger film reunites him with his regular collaborators Lez Brotherston (set and costumes), Paule Constable (lighting), and Paul Groothuis (sound). The work features a new score arranged by Terry Davies, which utilizes the music of iconic composer Bernard Herrmann.

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Tony-nominated musical Bright Star will follow, running October 11-November 19. Walter Bobbie directs, with choreography by Josh Rhodes. The touring Bright Star will be followed by the touring Something Rotten!, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Karey Kirkpatrick, and John O'Farrell's Tony-nominated musical directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw. It runs November 21-December 31.

The world premiere of David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori's Soft Power, directed by Leigh Silverman and choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, will run May 3-June 10. The new work begins as a contemporary play and jumps 100 years in the future to become a Chinese musical about present-day America.

Stephen Karam's Tony-winning The Humans, directed by Joe Mantello, will run June 19-July 29.
