Rivera, a current Tony nominee for her work in ”The Visit”, toasted her rise from dancer to star.
Cast members from Broadway's Kinky Boots, Something Rotten!, The King and I, and more took part in a Broadway Gypsy Tea Dance party at the Top of the Strand Rooftop at the Strand Hotel to celebrate The Visit star Chita Rivera and her rise in the ranks from dancer to legend.
Rivera's Broadway credits date back to the 1950s, when she made her debut as a replacement in the original production of Guys and Dolls. After dancer roles in musicals like Can-Can throughout the 1950s, she served as the original Anita in West Side Story, before being nominated for Tonys for her performances in Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Merlin, and more. She won the honor for her work in The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and is currently nominated for her performance in The Visit.
