Broadway veteran Michael McElroy earned a Grammy nomination for his work on the gospel group’s debut album, ”Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas”.
Grammy and Tony nominee Michael McElroy (Big River) and Broadway Inspirational Voices are preparing to record their second holiday album Great Joy II: Around the World. They are launching their fundraising effort with Kickstarter campaign, running now through June 15, with a fundraising goal of $40,000.
BIV recorded its debut holiday album, Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas, nearly 11 years ago, earning Michael and his cowriters Joseph Joubert and Buryl Red a Grammy nomination for their work. All proceeds from album sales as well as from the concerts and events that BIV performs, go to fund the organization's outreach initiative.
BIV is a gospel ensemble comprising actors who perform on and off-Broadway. Some of the shows represented today are After Midnight, Disney's Aladdin, Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots, The Lion King, Motown: The Musical, Pippin, Violet, Wicked, and more.
