Reed Birney, Jayne Houdyshell, and more star in the production.
The Broadway run of Stephen Karam's new play The Humans opens tonight at the Helen Hayes Theatre. The production recently ended its off-Broadway premiere run at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre.
The Humans follows Erik (played by Tony nominee Reed Birney), who has broken with tradition and brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls, family tensions reach a peak, and the heart and horrors of the clan are exposed. Cassie Beck, Jayne Houdyshell, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed, and Sarah Steele complete the company, all of whom are reprising their off-Broadway roles.
Joe Mantello directs the production, which features a creative team made up of David Zinn (sets), Sarah Laux (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), and Fitz Patton (sound).
