Broadway Shockers 2016: Gilmore Girls Reboot Premieres a Jeanine Tesori Musical

We were all excited about the resurrection of Gilmore Girls, which came back into our lives via Netflix this past November. But musical-theater fans got an extra treat with the return to Stars Hollow — and we're not just talking about the guest appearances from Broadway favorites Kerry Butler, Sutton Foster, and Christian Borle.

Jeanine Tesori — the Tony-winning scribe behind Fun Home, Caroline, or Change, and Shrek — literally composed a brand-new musical just for the four-part series. And we're not talking eight bars of a parody tune. We're talking multiple songs, several minutes each, ranging from a pilgrim number to a hip-hop tribute to Hamilton (plus an encore of ABBA's "Waterloo"). Needless to say, Stars Hollow the Musical was a Broadway shocker we were shocked to learn we desperately needed .
