Broadway's Best Shine at 2018 New Dramatists Luncheon

New Dramatists held its annual gala on Tuesday, May 15, at the Marriott Marquis. The event honored The Iceman Cometh Tony nominee Denzel Washington with the 2018 Distinguished Achievement Award. Check out TheaterMania's photos below.

Washington's Broadway credits include Fences, for which he received a Tony Award, and A Raisin in the Sun, as well as Julius Caesar and Checkmates. He received Academy Awards for his performances in Glory and Training Day, with additional nominations for Cry Freedom, Malcolm X, The Hurricane, Flight, Fences, and Roman J. Israel, Esq.

Past recipients of the award from New Dramatists include Meryl Streep, Audra McDonald, Bernadette Peters, Horton Foote, Edward Albee, Harvey Fierstein, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, and Stephen Sondheim, among many others.
