New York City
The musical has been running continuously since 1996.
The long-running Broadway revival of Chicago celebrated its 8,000th performance and the birthday of lead producer Barry Weissler on February 22 at the Ambassador Theatre. The musical, now in its 20th year, officially opened in 1996.
Chicago currently stars international stage sensation Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, stage and screen favorite Paige Davis as Roxie Hart, NFL Legend and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. The revival is directed by Walter Bobbie.
