Broadway's Love Letters Will Close Before Anjelica Huston and Martin Sheen Take the Stage

The first Broadway revival of A.R. Gurney's 1990 Pulitzer Prize finalist Love Letters will end its run at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Sunday, December 14 after 6 previews and 95 regular performances. The production, directed by Gregory Mosher, was scheduled to close February 15.

Mosher's production featured a rotating cast of Broadway and Hollywood veterans. Brian Dennehy and Mia Farrow opened the production on September 13 and starred through October 10. The company subsequently featured Carol Burnett and Brian Dennehy, and Alan Alda and Candice Bergen.

The pairings of Stacy Keach and Diana Rigg, and Anjelica Huston and Martin Sheen, scheduled for January and February, will go unseen. A national tour of the production will take place in the fall of 2015.

Love Letters explores the friendship of rebellious artist Melissa Gardner and straightlaced lawyer-turned-politician Andrew Makepeace Ladd III through the letters they wrote to each other over the course of 50 years. The production team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), and Scott Lehrer (sound design).
