Broadway's Paul Tazewell Wins First Oscar for Designing Wicked Costumes

Veteran Broadway costume designer Paul Tazewell has won his first Academy Award, for designing the costumes of Wicked. He made history as the first Black man to win in this category.

With his newly collected Oscar, Tazewell is a Grammy away from attaining EGOT status; he won a Tony for the costumes of Hamilton and an Emmy for his work on The Wiz Live!

In addition to Hamilton, Tazewell is represented on Broadway with Death Becomes Her and MJ. He was previously nominated for an Oscar for the remake of West Side Story.
