Three additional stars of the musical’s principal company will appear alongside Andy Karl and Margo Seibert.
Terence Archie, Dakin Matthews, and Danny Mastrogiorgio will join Andy Karl and Margo Seibert in the upcoming Broadway premiere of the new musical Rocky. With a score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Rocky begins previews at the Winter Garden Theatre on February 11 in advance of a March 13 opening.
Archie, who originated the role of Apollo Creed in the world premiere production of Rocky in Hamburg, Germany, will reprise his role on Broadway. Matthews, recently seen in All The Way at American Repertory Theater, will play Rocky’s trainer, Mickey, with Mastrogiorgio (Broadway’s Lucky Guy) as Adrian’s brother, Paulie. As previously announced, Karl and Seibert take on the iconic roles of Rocky and Adrian. Additional casting will be revealed in the coming weeks.
With a book by Thomas Meehan and Sylvester Stallone (who cowrote and starred in the legendary 1975 film on which the musical is based), Rocky follows the story of small-time Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa (Karl), who gets the chance to fight heavyweight champ Apollo Creed. The production is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Kelly Devine and Steven Hoggett.
