Cagney Celebrates One Year at Westside Theatre

The off-Broadway musical Cagney celebrated one year of performances at the Westside Theatre with a celebratory toast. The production began its run on March 16, 2016, before its official opening on April 3. As previously reported, the show will complete its run on May 28.

Cagney features a book by Peter Colley (The Donnelly) and music and lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern (Fame) that blend with classic George M. Cohan favorites. The musical tells the story of legendary stage and screen star James Cagney, following the actor from his humble beginnings in New York City's Lower East Side through his rise as a vaudeville song-and-dance man to his superstardom in Hollywood. The show is directed by Bill Castellino, with choreography by Joshua Bergasse.

Cagney's six-member cast stars Broadway's Robert Creighton (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) in the title role, with Jeremy Benton (Irving Berlin's White Christmas), Danette Holden (Annie), Josh Walden (Ragtime), Ellen Zolezzi (Seussical), and Bruce Sabath (Company).
