Carl Lumbly (Alias) and Ismael Cruz Cordova (Sesame Street) are among the stars of Regina Taylor’s new play stop. reset., an upcoming production of Off-Broadway’s Signature Theatre. Taylor also directs the work, which begins previews in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Center on August 20 with an opening night set for September 8.

Formerly titled —- and Potatoes, stop. reset. follows Alex Ames (Lumbly), the owner of Chicago’s oldest African-American book publishing company, as he questions his employees about who is still relevant in the rapidly changing, electronic world. When he meets the mysterious J. (Cordova), Ames must decide how far he needs to go to survive. Taylor, one of Signature’s Residency Five playwrights, is a Golden Globe and NAACP Image Award winner for her performance on the television series I’ll Fly Award. She is the author of the plays Crowns and Drowning Crow, among others.

The company will also include Michi Barall, Teagle Bougere, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, and Donald Sage. Featured on the creative team are Neil Patel (scenic design), Karen Perry (costume design), Lap Chi Chu (lighting design), Robert Kaplowitz (sound desing), Shawn Sagady (projection design), Valerie Gladstone (hair and make-up design), Rick Sordelet (fight direction), and Stephen Gabis (vocal and dialect coach).
