Dan DeLuca, Joey Barreiro, and others will participate in the second annual ”Newsboys’ Variety Show”.
On October 2 — exactly one year after its closing — cast members from the national tour of Newsies will reunite at Feinstein's/54 Below for the second annual edition of The Newsboys’ Variety Show.
The 7pm and 9:30pm concerts will feature Joey Barreiro, Dan DeLuca, Jonathan Fenton, JP Ferreri, Kaitlyn Frank, Jeff Heimbrock, Morgan Keene, Stephen Michael Langton, Devin Lewis, Nick Masson, Alex Prakken, Anthony Rosenthal, Michael Ryan, Jack Sippel, Ethan Steiner, Stephanie Styles, Daniel Switzer, Chaz Wolcott, and Anthony Michael Zas. Chip Prince will be the music director, with Shoshana Feinstein as producer.
Inspired by the 1992 film of the same name, Newsies tells the story of a group of tenacious newsboys at the turn of the last century who band together to form a union and lead a strike after selling prices are raised. The musical, which originated at Paper Mill Playhouse, won Tony Awards for Best Original Score Written for the Theatre and Best Choreography. It features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by Harvey Fierstein.
