Academy Award winner and stage veteran Cate Blanchett will star opposite Eric Bana, Saoirse Ronan, and Niels Arestrup. in the adventure thriller Hanna, to be directed by Joe Wright.
The movie focuses on a teenage girl (Ronan), who she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; which come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man in the wilds of Sweden. When she’s sent on a mission by her father, Hanna finds that she’s being followed by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Blanchett).
Blanchett won the Academy Award for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. She is currently co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company, where she has appeared in productions such as The War of the Roses, as well as Hedda Gabler and A Streetcar Named Desire, both of which played at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She is also scheduled to appear in Wright’s forthcoming film Indian Summer.
