The Central Park event celebrated the Sing for Hope piano series.
Cast members from three of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway shows, Cats, School of Rock, and The Phantom of the Opera, joined together on Tuesday, June 20, at the Central Park Dairy for a special public sing-along at their custom Sing for Hope piano.
The lunchtime concert featured the songs "Mr. Mistoffelees," "Teacher's Pet," "The Music of the Night," and "Any Dream Will Do." On hand to perform were Phantom cast members Paul A. Schaefer, Ali Ewoldt, Dara Adler, Kelly Jeanne Grant, and Satomi Hofmann, who served as accompanist; Cats company members Andrew Wilson and Madison Mitchell, and musical director William Waldrop; and, from School of Rock, Brandon Niederauer, Ruth Righi, Paul Luke Bonefant, Chloe Bryan, Raghav Mehrotra, Sammy Ramirez, Ellie Kim, Olivia Chun, Michael Cascetta, and Demi Singleton.
The Sing for Hope pianos are the country's largest annual public arts project, reaching an estimated 2 million New Yorkers annually across the five boroughs. This summer will mark the project's sixth anniversary with the placement of the 400th artist-designed piano to date, making New York City host to more street pianos than any other city in the world. After their time on the streets, Sing for Hope will transport the instruments to New York City public schools.
