Soul Sister, a musical biography of Ike and Tina Turner, will transfer to the West End’s Savoy Theatre for a limited run from August 23-September 29.
The cast of 15 is led by Emi Wokoma as Tina Turner, with Chris Tummings as Ike Turner. The musical, which is devised by Pete Brooks and John Miller, and directed by Bob Eaton, played a previously reported run at the Hackney Empire in April.
Soul Sister follows the lives of Ike and Tina Turner from the heights of their careers to the dissolution of their marriage, and Tina’s reemergence as a rock icon. The production features songs including “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Simply the Best,” and “Proud Mary.”
The creative team includes Jason Pennycooke (choreography and musical staging), Laura Hopkins (design), and Keith Strachan (musical supervision and arrangements).
