Tesori will pen music for the series’ upcoming Netflix revival.
The upcoming Netflix revival of the popular television series Gilmore Girls will be even more influenced by Broadway than first expected.
According to published reports, Tony winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten!) and Tony nominee Kerry Butler (Disaster!) will join the previously announced Sutton Foster as a guest star on the series, which is created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino. The trio will be featured in the third of four planned movie editions of Gilmore Girls, specifically taking part in a musical written for the series by Fun Home Tony winner Jeanine Tesori.
Foster and Borle starred in the original Broadway production of Tesori's musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Foster went on to star in Tesori's Violet, which was produced in part by Sherman-Palladino and her husband. Foster also appeared on their television series Bunheads.
Additional information will be revealed in the coming months.
