Emily Mann will direct the new comedy.
Christopher Durang's new play Turning Off the Morning News will receive its world premiere as part of the McCarther Theater Center's 2017-18 season. Directed by Emily Mann, the play runs May 4-June 3 in the Berlind Theatre.
Turning Off the Morning News follows Cliff and Salena, who live a normal suburban life, while their across-the-street neighbors are stark-raving mad.
The company will be made up of Jenn Harris as Rosalind, Rachel Nicks as Salena, Kristine Nielsen as Polly, Nicholas Podany as Timmy, John Pankow as Jimmy, and Robert Sella as Clifford. The production feature designs by Beowulf Boritt (set and projections), Jeff Croiter (lighting), Jennifer von Mayrhauser (costumes), and Mark Bennett (original music and sound).
This is Durang's third world-premiere commission for McCarter, and his follow up to his Tony-winning Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, in which Nielsen starred.
