Stage and screen stars Benjamin Walker and Scarlett Johansson will play Brick and Maggie, respectively, in the upcoming Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Rob Ashford is directing the production, which will begin performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on December 18 in anticipation of a January 17 opening.
The production will also feature Ciarán Hinds as Big Daddy and Debra Monk as Big Mama. Additional casting and the design team will be announced soon.
Walker starred in the title role of Broadway’s Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and plays another famous president in the film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Johannsson won a Tony for her Broadway debut in A View from a Bridge, and is well known for her film work — including the role of Black Widow in the summer smash The Avengers.
Hinds’ previous Broadway credits include Closer and The Seafarer. Monk won a Tony for Redwood Curtain, a Drama Desk for Curtains, an Obie for The Time of the Cuckoo, and an Emmy for NYPD Blue.
