Colin Hanlon Begins His Journey With Broadway's In Transit

Colin Hanlon joins the cast of Broadway's a cappella musical In Transit tonight at Circle in the Square Theatre. He jumps into the role of Steven, previously played by Telly Leung who has taken a leave of absence from the production.

Hanlon made his Broadway debut in the ensemble of Rent, and on January 8, he completed his run as the standby in this season's Broadway revival of Falsettos. In 2001, he earned a Lortel nomination for his performance in Pirates of Penzance. Last season, he played Adam in Colman Domingo's new play Dot, directed by Susan Stroman, at the Vineyard Theatre. Hanlon plays Steven on ABC's Emmy-winning Modern Family and is the star and producer of the web series Submissions Only.

Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Kathleen Marshall, In Transit is inspired by the rhythms of the subway as various characters find their way in New York City. It features a book, music, and lyrics by Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russell Kaplan, and Sara Wordsworth. The production has vocal arrangements by Deke Sharon and musical supervision by Rick Hip-Flores.

Hanlon joins a company that also features David Abeles (Once), Moya Angela (Ghost), Steven "Heaven" Cantor, Justin Guarini (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), Erin Mackey (Amazing Grace), Gerianne Pérez, Margo Seibert (Rocky), Chesney Snow, James Snyder (If/Then), Mariand Torres, Nicholas Ward (On the Town), Adam Bashian, Laurel Harris (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Arbender Robinson (Shuffle Along), and Aurelia Williams.

The musical began performances November 10, 2016 and opened December 11.
