The Broadway musical comes home with familiar faces in tow.
A new production of Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s Come From Away will take shape July 7-September 3 in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, the town where the much-loved musical is set. Jillian Keiley directs the staging at the Joseph R Smallwood Arts & Culture Center.
The company will feature alumni from across the world, including original Broadway cast members Petrina Bromley, who will play Captain Beverley Bass, and Astrid Van Wieren, who will play Diane. They will be joined by Toronto company members Clint Butler as Kevin T and Kate Etienne as Margie, and West End cast member Stuart Hickey as Nick.
In addition to Bromley, Butler, and Etienne, Gander natives in the production include Ryan Alexander (ensemble), Jacquelyn French (Janice and others), Peter Halley (Claude and others), Shelley Neville (Beulah and others), Tim Matson (Oz and others), and Alison Woolridge (Bonnie and others). Rounding out the cast are Tyler Belo (Bob and others), Maiesha McQueen (Hannah and others), Michael Torontow (Kevin J and others), and Bridget Bezanson (ensemble).
The Newfoundland and Labradorian members of the band include Jonathan Monro (musical director), Jason Field (electric, acoustic guitar), Darren Browne (acoustic guitars, mandolins, Bouzouki), Frank Fusari (electric and acoustic bass), Greg Hawco (bodhrán, percussion), Romano DiNillo (drums, percussion), Evan Smith (associate musical director), and Ben Power (whistle, Irish flute, Uilleann pipes).
The creative team includes Marc Kimelman (choreography), Bob Foster (music supervision), Shawn Kerwin (sets), Marie Sharpe (costumes), Leigh Ann Vardy (lighting), Don Ellis (sound), Ian Eisendrath (arrangements), and August Eriksmoen (orchestrations).
