| New York City |

February 24, 2005

John Rubinstein, who has garnered praise for his leading performance in the current revival of Elmer Rice’s Counsellor-at-Law at the Theatre at St. Clement’s, will be interviewed by David Finkle, TheaterMania’s senior theater critic, at Ars Nova on Sunday, March 6 at 12 noon. He will discuss his current assignment as well as his 40-year career on the stage, in movies, and on television.

Rubinstein made his Broadway debut in the title role of the musical Pippin and was last seen on the Great White Way as Tateh in Ragtime. He won a Tony Award in 1980 for his performance in Children of a Lesser God. Over the years, he has acted in and composed music for many movies and television shows; he may be best known to TV viewers for his continuing role on Family, for which he also supplied the theme music. In a number of stage shows, including Ragtime, Rubinstein has been a replacement, and that aspect of his career will also be covered in the March 6 interview.

The event is the latest in TheaterMania’s continuing series of interviews with theater professionals at Ars Nova, located at 511 West 54th Street in Manhattan (between 10th and 11th avenues). Tickets for the event are priced at $10 in advance, $15 at the door; they may be purchased by clicking here.
