The Good Book begins performances tonight at the Court Theatre. The play unravels the construction of the Bible. From ancient Mesopotamia to medieval Ireland to suburban America, the play weaves the tale of the historic holy book. In conjunction with this story, are the stories of Connor and Miriam. At 15 years old, Connor struggles to come to terms with his own identity as it relates to his dream of becoming a priest and biblical scholar. Miriam, meanwhile, wrestles with her own crisis of faith. Through the story of the Bible, the two may be able to find the answers they seek.

Denis O’Hare and Lisa Peterson wrote the play, which Peterson also directs. It features Hollis Resnik as Miriam, Alex Weisman as Connor, Allen Gilmore as Man 1, Erik Hellman as Man 2, Kareem Bandealy as Man 3, Jacqueline Williams as Woman 1, and Emjoy Gavino as Woman 2.

The creative team includes Keith Parham (light design), Linda Roethke (costume design), Rachel Hauck (set design), Mark Bennett (composer and sound design), Mike Tutaj (projection design), and Amanda Weener-Frederick (stage manager).

Performances will run through April 19.
