Cynthia Nixon Announces Candidacy for Governor of New York
Nixon will seek to challenge Andrew M. Cuomo in this year’s Democratic primary.

Two-time Tony winner Cynthia Nixon has announced that she will challenge New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in this year's Democratic primary.
Nixon, who has not previously run for elected office, is seeking to unseat Cuomo, who is in the midst of his second term and is expected to seek a third. Watch Nixon's official video announcing her candidacy:

Nixon, best known for her performance on TV's Sex and the City, is the recipient of two Emmys, two Tonys, and a Grammy Award. She was most recently seen on Broadway in The Little Foxes.
