Soules replaces the previously announced Jill Tanner in the New York premiere of Marina Carr’s play.
Irish Repertory Theatre has announced that Dale Soules (Orange Is the New Black, Hands on a Hardbody) will replace previously announced Jill Tanner as Aunty Ah in their New York premiere of Marina Carr's Woman and Scarecrow. Tanner has exited the production citing personal reasons as the cause. Woman and Scarecrow will run May 9-June 24. Opening night is May 20.
Soules joins a cast comprising Stephanie Roth Haberle (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as Woman, Pamela Gray (The Sinner) as Scarecrow, and Aidan Redmond (The Cripple of Inishmaan) as Him. Ciarán O'Reilly directs.
Woman and Scarecrow is described as follows: "Woman is dying. Mother to eight children and wife to an unfaithful husband, she is living her final hours with Scarecrow, her alter ego — her closest confident and greatest critic — as death noisily interrupts from the sidelines. Together, the women revisit her life with biting humor and brutal honesty."
The creative team includes Charlie Corcoran (set design), Whitney Locher (costume design), Michael Gottlieb (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery (sound design, original music).
